What is Kambisa!OnStage
Kambisa!OnStage is our music and art project, where we help you express yourself through music, poetry and other performance arts.
Can you sing, rap or play an instrument? We give workshops to help you improve your act and get the best out of your talents. From there we can assist you in making professional recordings, improving your chances to get exposed and be heard.
Why we do this
The mainstream music industry is mainly focussed on making money, playing it safe, choosing artists who sound like other successful artists or nicely fit into a popular sound, so they can be sure it will sell. This makes it hard for new talent to be heard.
We want to give these new talents a chance, coaching them and giving them an opportunity to get recorded, so they can compete with the mainstream music industry and the audience can decide for themselves if they like what they hear.
Results so far
We started the OnStage project in 2009, recording unknown music talent around Zambia. This resulted in a compilation cd, featuring widely different music styles, ranging from hiphop and gospel to Zambian ragga and traditional African music. Many tracks have been played on radio already. We are currently working on releasing the album properly to get even more exposure for the featured artists.
