Jarons soccer blog
Playing football and meeting some celeberty's! Hello! That were some exiting days since I blogged Tuesday.
Wednesday Desh (our coordinator) took us to the local market, one of the biggest in Zambia. Everywhere were people, stands, wooden shops, dirt, plastic and bumpy roads. The people were all shouting and waving at us, calling us Bazengu's (white guy's). After walking around in the dirt for an hour, we went to a compound. Desh had some connections there, so it was safe to go there. When we arrived we were searching for a friend of him, but saddly he wasn't at home. A bit of asking around lead us to a guy, who knew a guy that would know where Desh'es friend should be (nice how directly things can go, NOT!). That was the moment when we really got right in the compound, through the small roads with small houses, the smell of pee and everywhere garbage. When we walked for about a minute there were children coming from all the sides, and in know time there were about 40 children walking with us, laughing, touching, shouting and trying to get a place at the picture.
Damn, that was really awsome. That was the first time it really feels like I were in Zambia. Jorrit, the other coordinator who has bin in Zambia for two times now, had filmed two years ago in one of the compounds at a local school and we went there. The school was just one small room, like 5x7meters, but still there were about 80 childeren in there. When we came in they all stoud up and sang a song for us. Really beutiful to hear the gospel like songs, sadly I didn't got my field recorder with me, but we got a video of it! We talked a bit with the teacher, and two of us (Aziz and Victor) went outside beacause there were children playing soccer. After a while we all went outside and the crowd of children growed and growed, I joined the game with the other guys and running after the ball we were directed to a big open place. Playing football, it was more like running at the ball, with around hundred(100!!!) children was so damn nice. Argh, I almost can't Wednesday evening we went to a local music studio to write and record a song with Desh. It was really nice to see the way they work and their equipment (nice, they work with locic 4.8, since we are now at 8 it's a bit cheesy!) Yesterday Erik and I went again to the studio and recorded a lot of vocals of Desh and Joe (One of the biggest artist in Zambia) Also we met Cactus and QT (Youtube Desh or Cactus if you like) I uploaded some photo's, hope you like them!
I got to stop right now, we're going to lunch.
Greetings, Jaron
